An Inexhaustible World

The exhibition An Inexhaustible World invites reflection on the relationship between contemporary art and magic in modern civilization.

Throughout history, magic—once central to human life—has been relegated to the margins and often associated with notions of "occultism" or "primitivism," considered an inferior stage from the perspective of Cartesian thought. However, the connection between shamanism, spirituality, and magic with various narratives of contemporary art demonstrates that these practices remain present and active in our visual culture.

The exhibition aims to highlight how magic, understood not only as a set of beliefs but also as a technique for altering reality, shares a deep relationship with contemporary art. Both seek to unveil the invisible, transform our perception of the world, and challenge the boundaries of established knowledge. Rooted in the ephemeral and the subversive, art and magic function as forms of resistance and empowerment, inviting viewers to explore parallel worlds and reimagine new realities.

Curators: Alexis Callado and Claudia Rodríguez-Ponga.
