Ignacio Barrios

Ignacio Barrios is a visual artist whose practice lies at the intersection of photography, installation, and sculpture, with an approach that blurs the boundaries between disciplines. Through images of found or fabricated objects in different contexts, Barrios creates compositions that confront artistic gesture with everyday situations, revealing tensions between the spontaneous and the constructed, the ephemeral and the intentional.

During his residency in Arévalo, the artist will explore the recent transformation of the city’s urban fabric, shaped by the expansion of its industrial area. Through visits to factories, workshops, and historic buildings, Barrios will develop a photographic — and possibly sculptural — series that offers a critical and poetic reading of the coexistence between the city’s agrarian past and its new production processes. His work will seek to capture how these shifting landscapes engage with the memory of the territory and the daily experiences of its inhabitants.

Ignacio Barrios (Geneva, 1989) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication and a Master’s in Photography from the Royal College of Art in London, where he was awarded the Genesis Imaging Postgraduate Award in 2019. He has been an artist-in-residence at the BilbaoArte Foundation. He has exhibited his work in spaces such as Galería Moriarty, Estudio Figuero-Vives, and the Getty Images Gallery in London. He currently lives in Madrid, combining his artistic practice with photographic commissions.
