After the past

Marina Tellería, Maquina del tiempo lenta, 2015

Curator: Aldones Nino

Collegium has as one of its central interests to articulate the relationships between Arévalo's Jesuit complex (along with all the context surrounding it), and the radicalism of the contemporary production of the 21st century, using as basis non-linear connections and establishing a dialogue between different historical processes that constitute our present. After the Past brings together artworks that articulate from axes such as time, narrative and power, a genesis of a questioning historical legacies and their influences within a present shared between different nations marked by a colonial past. After the Past proposes alternative ways of inhabiting history, relocating the official narratives. An imaginary gap, where the approach with these art pieces incites to face the cracks where processes of subjugation are staged, extracting colonial patterns based on notions of progress and modernity.
